Free July 19 webinar to focus on in-office membership plans

By | July 12, 2018

A free July 19 webinar, “Increase Value In Your Practice? How? Start Your Own Dental Plan,” will address how an in-office dental plan works, how to create a plan for the office and the advantages/risks of implementing a plan.

The webinar will stream from noon-1 p.m. CDT and offers one hour of continuing education credit for those who watch it live.

Although every in-office membership plan is different — that’s the beauty, advocates say — membership plans are dental care plans that practices offer directly to their patients. Patients pay a monthly or annual subscription directly to their practice for preventive care and discounts off other treatment. It is not an insurance plan, no claims are filed and no payments are made to any other health care providers. Once the annual fee is paid to the dentist directly, patients are entitled to the dental benefit membership program for 12 consecutive months.

The webinar will feature dentists who have implemented successful dental plans for uninsured patients and how this has impacted their practices. Participants will also hear from two companies that help dental offices implement their own in-office plans.

The webinar comes on the heels of a June ADA News story on in-office membership plans, available here. Other stories in the Decoding Dental Benefits series are available at

ADA leadership continues to hear member dentists’ feedback on these issues and has taken action to help dental offices implement their own in-office dental plans. This webinar is another of the many tactics the ADA is employing as part of its coordinated communications plan on dental benefits and third-party issues.
