The ADA is accepting applications until May 15 for the 2019 Robert H. Ahlstrom New Investigator Award, which highlights the crucial role dental informatics standards play in dentistry.

ADA dental student members and ADA members who have earned their dental degree no earlier than 2014 and members pursuing an additional degree or specialty are eligible to apply.

Permissible application submissions include an original standards-related research report that has been completed within the 2018-19 academic year but not published; a standards-related article that was published within the 2018-19 academic year; or a standards-related poster developed within the academic year 2018-19.

Submissions must also address in 250 words or less how the research incorporates current dental standards and/or contributes to the development of dental standards.

The winner of the Robert H. Ahlstrom award, which is named after the first chairman of the ADA Standards Committee on Dental Informatics, will receive a $1,000 honorarium, U.S. domestic airfare and a three-night hotel stay to present their paper in September 2019 at the ADA SCDI meeting in San Francisco.
