Mark Wahlberg to give keynote address at ADA FDI 2019
San Francisco — Oscar-nominated actor and producer Mark Wahlberg will give the keynote address at the ADA FDI World Dental Congress this September in San Francisco.
While he is best known for his film career, Mr. Wahlberg founded the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation in 2001 to benefit inner-city children and teens. The foundation travels across the U.S. to spread awareness about the dangers of opioid abuse.
“Mark Wahlberg has used his influence to make a difference in the lives of our nation’s children,” ADA President Jeffrey M. Cole said. “His foundation’s efforts to curb opioid abuse in young people align with the tireless efforts of the ADA and dentists across the country. I can’t wait to hear him speak in San Francisco. He’s sure to inspire us all.”
Mr. Wahlberg will address attendees at 5:15 p.m. Sept. 5 during the Opening Ceremony and General Session, which is sponsored by Laurel Road.
“I am delighted to have Mark Wahlberg as our keynote speaker,” FDI President Kathryn Kell said. “His commitment to youth, supporting children to be the best that they can be, aligns with FDI’s mission to support and improve children’s oral health and general health across the globe. I look forward to hearing his take on how dentists can empower young people at home and abroad.”
Doors open for the event at 4:45 p.m. at the Moscone Center West, Level 1. In addition to the keynote address, the Opening Ceremony and General Session also will celebrate ADA member accomplishments with the presentations of the ADA Humanitarian and Distinguished Service awards and highlight FDI member countries during the flag ceremony.
Access to the event is free for all ADA members, dental teams and international attendees and $40 for nonmember dentists from North America. Space is limited, and advance registration is required.
