What do new dentists think? Dr. Jill McMahon, ADA New Dentist Committee member, participated in the Aug. 15 and 16 Council on Members Insurance and Retirement Programs (CMIRP) meeting to share just that.

Dr. McMahon, who serves as an ex officio member to CMIRP, updated the council on NDC activities and offered the new dentist viewpoint throughout the meeting. As a standing committee of the ADA Board of Trustees, the NDC has a unique opportunity to participate in ADA councils and commissions on issues affecting new dentists.

“It’s really important for ADA to offer valuable benefits for new dentists and to also communicate that information in the way that makes sense to them,” said Dr. McMahon. “That’s part of my job as the NDC rep — to make sure the other ADA councils understand this view and keep it front of mind.”

CMIRP is the agency of the ADA whose purpose is to enhance the value of ADA membership by overseeing the sponsored insurance and endorsed retirement programs and by aiding dentists in the management of their personal and professional risks through educational activities, informational programs and services.

The New Dentist Committee has representation on 11 other ADA councils and the ADPAC Board. For more information on how the ADA is organized, visit the ADA Leadership and Governance Web page.
