World Oral Health Day launches video campaign

By | March 15, 2016

Ahead of World Oral Health Day on March 20, the FDI World Dental Federation launched a new video. The short and humorous video shows a montage of two people attempting (and failing!) activities such as dancing, meditating and shaving while brushing their teeth.

The video has been created to heighten awareness of the importance of focusing time solely on brushing teeth for two minutes twice a day, and will remind people of the importance of a good oral care routine.

World Oral Health DayDental professionals from more than 70 countries will celebrate World Oral Health Day March 20.

The 2016 theme is “It all starts here. Healthy mouth. Healthy body.”

The observance, which the FDI World Dental Federation organizes in collaboration with Henry Schein, Philips, Unilever and the Wrigley Oral Healthcare Program, offers the global dental profession a chance to take action in a worldwide effort to reduce tooth decay and organize programming and events under a single, unifying message.

“It’s supposed to be a fun day,” said Iowa-based dentist Dr. Kathy Kell, president-elect of the FDI and an ADA trustee from 2004-08. “It’s a good day to get the news out and to promote oral health. It’s something we can all rally around.”

Those interested in honoring World Oral Health Day are encouraged to organize efforts on March 20 or within the month of March. Coming soon, participants can upload their own photos and create a customized World Oral Health Day poster to share via Facebook or Twitter with colleagues and friends worldwide. Downloadable materials are available at worldoralhealthday.com.

You can checkout more about world oral health day’s selfie photo competition here! https://www.facebook.com/notes/philips-sonicare/facebook-house-rules-rules-to-the-philips-world-oral-health-day-selfie-competiti/10153114329862622/. It’s a fun way to celebrate, there are a few rules listed about halfway down that page, specifically you must like Phillips page, and you can’t be one of their employees. But I think the end goal is just to celebrate World Oral Health Day and have fun!
